Matt began his performing career in the early 1990s, drumming in various outfits and theatre shows before eventually finding his home centre stage in 1995 as vocalist for Queen Tribute band The Royal Family, an opportunity that suddenly arose mid-tour! This led to a hugely successful decade of globetrotting with tours of the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Japan. In 2004, Matt co-starred in the rock tribute show Whole Lotta Metal, sharing vocal duties with Black Sabbath’s Tony Martin and current Nazareth singer Carl Sentance, as well as a long stint fronting popular Nottingham-based Bon Jovi tribute act, Blaze of Glory. In 2006 came contributions to Tom Galley’s Phenomena album ‘Psycho Fantasy’ (alongside the ‘voice of rock’ himself, Glenn Hughes) plus a star turn on Cloven Hoof’s album ‘Eye of The Sun.’ This proved to be an epic showcase for Matt’s vocal talents as he more than adequately stepped into the shoes of original Hoof singer, Russ North. This was followed by Carbon Soul’s album ‘Dying Days’ in 2009 alongside fellow MORTLAND alumni, Andy Shortland.
Jordan undoubtedly as the highest profile! Having already racked up over a decade’s worth of touring and session work within a multitude of diverse musical genres, 2011 saw an invitation to join the ranks of cult metal band Evil Scarecrow. Appearing first on the DVD of their live show from 2013’s Bloodstock Festival entitled ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Crows,’ this was followed by Jordan’s recording debut for the Crow on their 2014 album ‘Galactic Hunt.’ More live appearances at Download and Bloodstock followed as well as hugely successful headline tours of the UK, buoyed in part by the success of tongue-in-cheek single and live favourite, ‘Crabulon.’ Summer 2017 promises more festival appearances at Wacken, Hard Rock Hell, and Amplified, so we’re certainly lucky to have bagged this young tub thumper for MORTLAND!
Andy has been performing on the UK live circuit for over 20 years. In that time, he’s toured much of the world with various Queen tribute acts (most notably The Royal Family and Killer Queen) as well as 80s psychedelic rockers, Dr and the Medics. In 2004 he starred in rock tribute show Whole Lotta Metal, sharing a stage with the likes of Black Sabbath’s Tony Martin and Nazareth’s Carl Sentance, touring the UK twice to great acclaim. In 2006, Andy wrote and recorded with Tom Galley and his Phenomena project on the album ‘Psycho Fantasy’ (that starred Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes, Tony Martin and many others) as well as providing the guitars for Cloven Hoof’s comeback album ‘Eye of The Sun.’ From 2009 to 2015, Andy played with Coventry’s The Subterraneans, an outfit originally put together as the backing band for Hazel O’Connor, though they continued to tour the UK as a hugely popular live act long after that association had ended. Andy and Matt have also written and recorded together as Carbon Soul, releasing the metal album ‘Dying Days’ in 2009.
Nick has been a stalwart of the live scene for over a decade. His mercurial talents have seen him contribute his low-end, 5-string rumble nationwide to everything from prog rock, funk, soul, and metal outfits, being almost as well renowned for his dominating and energetic live performances as he is his bass prowess! In addition to MORTLAND, Nick is also currently a member of the popular Nottingham rock band TOWERS, as well the funk collective BOSSMAGNET.
